Now Trading: Cboe FTSE Bitcoin Index Futures (XBTF)
Cboe launched the new Cboe FTSE Bitcoin Index Futures (Ticker: XBTF) for trading on CFE on April 28, 2025. The futures are based on the XBTF Index, developed by FTSE Russell in collaboration with Digital Asset Research, representing 1/10th the value of the FTSE Bitcoin Index.

Cboe launched the new Cboe FTSE Bitcoin Index Futures (Ticker: XBTF) for trading on CFE on April 28, 2025. The futures are based on the XBTF Index, developed by FTSE Russell in collaboration with Digital Asset Research, representing 1/10th the value of the FTSE Bitcoin Index.
XBTF futures are cash-settled contracts that settle in the afternoon on the last business day of a month and may appeal to portfolios of all sizes.
Expanding Bitcoin Derivatives
The new XBTF futures will complement Cboe's existing suite of bitcoin derivatives,including Cboe’s Bitcoin ETF Index Options and Mini Bitcoin ETF Index Options (Tickers: CBTX, MBTX). By offering both cash-settled futures and securities options based on bitcoin, market participants have an extensive set of tools for trading and hedging bitcoin-related strategies. Market participants may be able to use these products individually to manage bitcoin volatility or together for more advanced trading strategies.
Growing Digital Asset Offerings
Cboe has been expanding its digital asset offerings, listing a majority of U.S. spot bitcoin and ether ETFs on Cboe’s BZX Equities Exchange. The recent launch of cash-settled index options related to spot bitcoin has spurred new ETFs using these options to provide capped-risk exposure to Bitcoin.
